Don’t Neglect the Offline Component of Your Online Business
Most entrepreneurs are on social media right now. How will you market your brand in order to stand out from the other coaches on social media? How will you learn your target audience? Some people just rely strictly on Facebook. Some people rely strictly on Periscope. Some people rely strictly on Pinterest. While others rely strictly on Twitter or Instagram. It is a huge mistake to rely solely on one social media platform to learn about your target audience. Why? Because first of all, you don’t own any of these platforms. Secondly, any of these social media platforms can and will fail us. They can and have crashed unexpectedly! When this happened, entrepreneurs who were ill-prepared became frantic. This is yet another reason why you need to have your own website and you must have an email list.
The question then becomes how will you market when social media doesn’t work as expected? How will you engage with your audience aside from social media? Going back to before social media was a “thing”, people met in person. Personal interaction is how people ran their businesses before this social media game. Even now, we cannot totally dismiss the importance of personal, off-line interaction. Offline networking can be accomplished through meetups or church gatherings. These interactions allow you to connect with and learn more about your target audience. They can also help you to figure out your niche.
When people meet you in person after engaging with or hearing about you online, it creates a more meaning-filled connection with your clients. These interactions allow you to genuinely connect with help your clients and also enables you to be successful in your ability to help them. Share these real stories of your clients and get your clients to share their stories in their own words through testimonials because word of mouth is the best way to promote your business.
You should always make sure that your website and social media pages are up-to-date. Using social media for marketing enables you to share your brand image across a variety of different social media platforms. While each platform has its own unique environment and voice, your business’s core identity – whether it’s friendly, fun, or serious – should remain consistent. There is no shortage of social media sites on which to share your content. The number of sites is growing every day. Sharing your coaching content and coaching expertise on the right platforms is crucial to your success.
