Three Ways to On-board Clients as Life and Relationship Coach
One of the first struggles a new life and relationship coach encounters is how to get clients on board. It may sound challenging but you can actually do this by keeping these three things in mind.
First, you need to speak to their pain. You need to speak directly to them. And when we say you need to speak to your client’s pain, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you poke at their pain. You should never do that. Rather, feel their pain. Understand where they are coming from. Try putting yourself in their shoes. And then speak like it was your own pain. That’s how you win your client’s trust. But everything doesn’t end there.
It’s not enough that you understand their pain. You also have to help them deal with those issues. That’s the second thing you need to do, provide them some type of direction. Clients seek the help of a life and relationship coach because they need a solution to their problem. And that’s what you need to provide them — a solution. But rather than solving their issues yourself, you only need to provide them with some kind of direction to follow. But remember never to drag them to the direction that you want them to follow. You have to do it indirectly. There’s a process to follow and it’s your main role to ensure that they are sticking to these rules. Because there is no shortcut to solving their personal issues. They really have to go through every step. And you will walk them through the whole process.
Lastly, you need to provide your clients with relevant content. You can’t always be there with them so you need to provide them with something relevant so they can take your teachings with them wherever they go. These could be through informative videos, blogs, social media posts, and even books. So to recap, to be an effective life and relationship coach, you need to talk to your client’s pain, provide them with some type of direction, and lastly, provide them with relevant content. Doing all these three will help you gain their trust and eventually get them on-board. It may sound hard at first but it would be easier once you get the hang of it. And the best thing about this career is you are not just making a living. You are leaving a legacy, as well. Remember that you are leaving an impact in your clients’ lives and there’s probably nothing nobler than that. You are saving relationships and touching lives. You are leaving a huge impact on these people’s lives. You’re going to play a huge part not just in their lives but in their children’s, and even children’s children, lives as well.
